What Whiskey to buy, price? type? age?....We have all your answers right here
It's hard to know what to drink when it comes to Whiskey, there is so much to choose from, so many different ages, and styles, and the prices vary so much how do you know what you really want. Well we have a few suggestions to make that might help you find the right whiskey for you, and your wallet.
First you have to know what type of whiskey you are wanting to drink, whether it be shooting shots of whiskey, or enjoying a great mixer, or the best way enjoying it a simple sipping beverage. To start, if you want to shoot whiskey I recommend Jameson Irish Whiskey. It's afforadable and it's an easy drink to enjoy quickly. It's also one I would recomend for a mixer, there aren't a lot of whiskey's I would taint with another beverage, but Jameson is a must for whiskey and coke! This whiskey runs from $20.00 to about $40.00 depending on size. But it is extremely afforadable and delicious. Jameson Irish Whiskey is triple distilled to deliver twice the smoothness. The balance between just the right amount of malted and un-malted barley to give a natural barley flavour, bringing out the sweet, nutty flavour from sherry casks with the toasted wood and vanilla notes from Bourbon casks.
Now, if you are more interested in sipping Whiskey on a special occassion I would recommend Redbreast which is a pure pot still whiskey Irish Whiskey. Redbreast is one of only two pure pot still whiskey brands produced today (along with Irish Distillers' Green Spot) and the only one with an age statement. In 2010, Redbreast 12 was awarded Irish Whiskey of the Year by whiskey writer, Jim Murray, and was also nominated as #1 buy in John Hansell's Buyer's Guide, picking up a score of 96 points. This is definitely a more exclusive whiskey, and even though it costs a pretty penny it's one-hundred percent worth the price tag. The 12 year (750ml) is priced at $49.99, and the 15 year (750ml) is priced at $79.99.
One of my personal favorite Whiskey's to sip (not just because it's delicious but the price is very easy to swallow) is Bushmill's Black Bush Whiskey. This is considered the classic malty Irish blend. It is matured in carefully selected Oloroso sherry casks. It is blended with elegant grain whiskey and can be aged up to 11 years. Black Bush’s racy bouquet offers aromas of toffee, cotton candy, malt mash and cream highlight. Palate entry is deep, dark caramel-like and stunningly luscious. Simply one of the greatest whiskeys from Ireland. At a price range of $36.99 (750ml) you can't beat the quality of product for what you are purchasing it for.
