July 2010- Wine of the Month

Cana by Tamayo Family Vineyards
Bailey Viognier 2009 Contra Coast County and Ryland Malbec 2008 Contra Coast County

Bailey Viognier: This precocious white features aromatics of wild honeysuckle and pears in an alluring
amalgam of haunting scents. The palate is an array of luscious fruit complexity followed by a long lingering finish.
You can't compete with this 90 Point, Gold Medal in the World Wine Championships (May 2010). "Golden color. Bright
aromas of baked pineapple, mango and banana and coconut cream follow through on a soft, silky entry to an oily,
dry-yet-fruity medium-to-full body with kiwi, praline, and earth notes on the long generous finish. Great varietal
intensity on flavor and texture." This wine is absolutly perfect for a San Diego summer day.
Ryland Malbec: This Malbec is a limited release from Tamayo family vineyards on their property in east Contra
Costa County, California. Ryland's red represents proprietors Jeff and Sara Tamayo's fascination with this
European varietal in their lush growing region. I am certain that you will appreciate its earthy warmth, rich fruit
textures and exotic finish. It's deep garnet color reminds me of ripe jammy black current, melted toffee, and Cajun
spice aromas follow through on a round, supple entry to a dry-yet-fruity medium-to-full body with great juicy berries
and layers of chocolate and honeyed nuts. Once again, this is what you are looking for in a perfect summer red wine. Enjoy!

Deep red-black in color with intense notes of blackberry and a creamy cinnamony component with underlying layers of cedar, black pepper and pencil lead. The wine is extremely well-balanced, with rich flavors and fine-grained tannins. The dark fruit finish goes on and on, seamlessly intertwining with the acid and tannin structure. March 2010- Wine of the Month

Russian River Valley- Renteria, Pinot Noir 2006

Russian River Pinot Noirs are beautiful wines, characterized by a soft, velvety, and very lush mouthfeel. The 2006 Renteria Pinot Noir Russian River is typical of this appellation with a mouthwatering structure that lingers on the palate. It has an elegance that is both refreshingly tart and subtle on the palate. The aroma is full and complex with an array of characters of strawberry jam, grass and raspberries. Softer than the Renteria Knittel Pinot Noir, the Russian River Pinot drinks well early on and should have a life of 5 to 8 years.

ON SPECIAL!- Normally $28.99 now going for only $26.99

Beingut Robert Konig-Spaetburgunder, Pinot Noir 2007

Spaetburgunder is a speciality of Assmannshausen. The phyllite-rich soil in the area retains heat and does not hold water, yielding grapes that are relatively low in number, but that produce the finest-quality Spaetburgunder. Our grapes are handpicked, and all of our red wines are produced using traditional mash fermentation, then aged in wooden barrels. The majority of our wines (98 percent) are dry.
